Grundfos Water Utility (WU) is excited to announce an exceptional opportunity as the VP of Product Development. In this position, you will play a vital role within our renowned WU Leadership team, directly reporting to the divisional CEO of the WU division. What is the job about?  

As the VP of Product Development and Digital offering, you will be responsible for creating an agile ecosystem of internal and external teams and able to create continuous customer value in terms of software and hardware solutions. While working in close collaboration with the applications management teams, this ecosystem will also include a wide variety of stakeholders such as suppliers, partners, universities, start-ups, etc.

 

The overall Product and Digital Development organization will be run as a best-in-class set-up and will create an agile organizational platform where people across functions come together to develop WU core products and digital offerings. You will work closely with the Segments (the offering and P&L owners), IS (Information Systems), Services & Sales, and Operations. You will head a multi-sited experienced team and will focus on delivering the implementation and fast business ramp-up into international market roll-out. You will also design the architecture and initiate the creation of partnerships in order to achieve pace and create outstanding USPs offering. In the light of the targeted growth, you will have the opportunity to define the global footprint of the organization with the ambition to generate or grow a competence centre in the most promising regions for IoT know-how and innovation.

 

Your main responsibilities:  

  • Ensuring product connectivity to building and/or process management systems.
  • Build a high-performing team focused on growth, innovation, and complex problem solving across the value chain, with the potential for scaling up or down as needed. (Initial team of 13 FTEs with continuous up and down scaling depending on the need.)
  • Implementing analytics for predictive maintenance of technically complex products.
  • Extracting relevant data from products.
  • Enabling cloud connectivity of product data.
  • Optimizing connectivity solutions in terms of performance, cost, and customer value.
  • Designing and architecting cloud solutions.
  • Ensuring security in IoT, data, software, and hardware.
  • Maintaining the quality of IoT products and system solutions.
  • Extending offers to include system solutions and virtual reality applications.
  • Facilitating remote service interaction with programming and parameterization.
  • Leading the integration and management of acquired companies, joint ventures, partnerships, and other inorganic growth initiatives to meet value creation goals.
  • Oversee UX/UI designs across technical offerings.

 

Your background 

  • Functional Experience and Technical Understanding

10+ years of relevant experience leading global software teams including abstraction of HW dependent SW layers and proven track record of successfully bringing IoT solutions in the market. Deep understanding of emerging trends and technologies within the water but also industrial/building related automation sectors (Internet of Things, distributed edge-based analytics, communications standards, cloud interfacing, xG, AI, cost effective communication architectures etc.)

  • Agility and Change Management

Change management skills with a proven track record of creating agile and innovative solutions and work environments

  • International Exposure

Significant international exposure with preferred experience from living abroad. Exposure to APAC/Chinese/Indian markets or to the upcoming IoT solution markets would be a real asset

  • Team Leadership

Experience in a leadership role, building and developing high performing teams. Experience with the management of teams split across geographies

  • Stakeholder Management

Ability to navigate a complex matrix organization in an international and cross-functional context, including a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in “start-up mode” while also addressing senior corporate management

  • Academics/Language

Master’s degree in electronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or another related technical degree can be an advantage. Fluency in English is required

Water Utilities (WU) is headquartered in Houston, Texas. This division focuses primarily on two industry verticals: Ground Water Intake (GWI) to bring water from underground to where it is needed and the Municipal segment serving a multitude of large and small municipal institutions in centralized and decentralized settings.
