Supplier Quality Engineer
Job Description

What is the job about? 
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for driving improvements in supplier product and process quality. Your key responsibilities will include evaluating supplier process capability reports, leading or participating in root cause analyses, and ensuring the quality of new projects, you will handle daily supplier quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D.

Additionally, you will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement necessary changes to processes, drawings, and specifications, ensuring proper management procedures are followed.

 

This position reports directly to our Senior Quality Manager and will operate out of the San Luis Potosi, Mexico facility daily.

 

Please note that relocation for this position cannot be supported, and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in Mexico without support.


Your main responsibilities: 

 

  • Work with Mexico operation site Quality team to follow up improvements from suppliers related components, based on 8D methodology.
  • Act as main contact and interphase between internal Supplier & Grundfos site.
  • Responsible for containment activities from supplier quality issues.
  • Collect Supplier Chargeback details and information from operation, issue this to suppliers for COPQ.
  • Recovery and follow up with Purchasing and/or Accounting for final recuperation claim status.
  • Main contact with suppliers in case of supplier issues affecting Mexico Operation site:

QIP related questions (return, sending missing component, etc.)

Return PO (accept, reject)

  • Maintain contact with the Grundfos site relevant to Quality Engineers and Managers.
  • Collect and analyze Supplier measurements during a VPC related to a supplier part and communicate to the stakeholders.
  • Approve/Reject decision on SPA (PPAP).
  • Support Purchasing and Sourcing department when supplier changes occur.
  • Help suppliers in case of problems in performance preventing local operation from performing.
  • Control on RPOs status.
  • Maintain contact with the different Grundfos MXP stakeholders in finance and Purchasing departments for COPQ recuperation.
  • Monitoring of returned products to suppliers.
  • Claim and follow-up the actions to external suppliers via 8D daily.
  • Plan and perform supplier audits when required and/or as needed.
  • Review and accept PFMEA and Control Plans documents from suppliers.
  • Assess risk on potential red alert issues coming from a supplied part and escalate to respective SQD and Management.
  • Adhere to local and Group Standards, Manuals and procedures.
  • Stock handling and follow up the blocked material related to supplier issues for proper disposition.
  • Support for different projects and other activities as deemed assigned by Manager / Director

 

Your background

We imagine that you have: 

  • Exposed to Quality department activities (3 years).
  • Root cause analysis tools. 8Ds, Ishikawa, FTA, QRQC, etc.
  • At least 6 years of experience on using FMEA and Control Plan.
  • At least 6 years of experience in drawing interpretation as well as CMM reports.
  • Knowledge of the use of measurement tools.
  • At least 6 years of experience in SPC.
