Engineering
Product Development Engineer
Job Description

Are you passionate about building reliable telemetry solutions that help customers worldwide monitor and manage critical infrastructure? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our new Product Development Engineer, you will be developing and maintaining telemetry server applications across the full product lifecycle—from design and coding through deployment, testing, and customer support—within our SaaS platform.

The role is based at the Grundfos Millfield office in Surrey, UK.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Metasphere Product Software team, you'll create impact by Delivering robust, well-documented telemetry solutions that empower a global customer base to gain real-time insights from their connected systems.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership of your tasks and deliver across the full product lifecycle for telemetry server applications: design, development, documentation, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and maintenance
  • Investigate and resolve complex system issues in SaaS telemetry environments, following through from diagnosis to resolution
  • Contribute to stable, operationally reliable SaaS environments including server administration and infrastructure improvements
  • Provide clear, technically sound support to the operations team and customers through ticketing and direct investigation
  • Integrate partner technologies into end-to-end telemetry solutions and facilitate product transfer across the value chain
  • Produce maintainable, well-documented code, tests, and user-facing materials while sharing knowledge across the team

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are a hands-on software engineer with 3–4 years of experience building server-side applications, comfortable working independently across the full product lifecycle and driven to see issues through to resolution. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent work experience) plus 3–4 years of software development experience
  • Strong programming skills in Java or C, Python, and SQL with PostgreSQL database experience
  • Hands-on DevOps and CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Docker, Git, and Linux shell scripting
  • Experience with REST API integration, Agile/SCRUM methods, and tools such as Jira

It is a plus if you also:

  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda)
  • Experience with database-related telemetry products or integrating partner technologies into end-to-end solutions
  • Technical documentation skills including design statements, user guides, and help files

Why you will love working here

We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:

  • A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
  • Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering in your community.
  • Access to on-demand training and learning sessions and carefully structured programmes to pursue personal and professional development opportunities.
