Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Pump Assembler for its Lubbock Service Center

The Pump Assembler will operate daily at our facility in Lubbock - typically a 10 hour shift Monday-Thursday. Occasionally Friday OT.


The Assembler is required to assemble high quality couplings on pumps and motors. The Assembly Department is expected to utilize materials, machines, and man-power to the fullest extent to achieve maximum effectiveness.

 

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform assembly of pump parts to obtain a high quality product.
  • Paints pumps when required.
  • Prepares, cleans, and paints any special supports or brackets required.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment of the immediate work area.
  • Mounts pumps and motors on bases as required.
  • Aligns pumps and motors to the specific tolerances required.
  • Reads and follows the specifications for each order.
  • Ensures that all paper work is completed for each pump order.
  • Assembles couplings on pumps and motors.
  • Builds skids or crates necessary for shipping pumps.
  • Attaches the proper shipping stickers and paper work for each pump order.
  • Certified to drive fork lift.
  • Secures the proper shipping papers to the correct pump.
  • Exercises care in the use of company equipment and tools.
  • Observes all safety programs and safety practices.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  
  • Can write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only little standardization exits.  
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to be taught how to read micrometers and calipers.
  • The job requires lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, squatting, walking, and being on your feet for the shift.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, shop heat, exposure to ambient heat in summer, wear mask when necessary when using paint or around paint fumes, wear safety apparel as required and necessary.


Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of both.
