What is the job about?  

Grundfos Pumps Corporation is seeking an Inside Sales Engineer to join our Industry (IND) team, to operate our E-Products (electronics) and Controls Hotline.

As an E-Products & Controls Inside Sales Engineer, you will field back-line (“hotline”) phone calls and inquiries from direct customers within Industry Americas who are seeking an advanced level of product and application support on Grundfos E-Products and Controls products.  This support could include troubleshooting guidance, sizing and selection, and system design assistance, including support escalations transferred from our Customer Service team. This is a standalone application support role, separate from our frontline Customer Service department.

In addition to these core responsibilities, you will also provide occasional hands-on product training to colleagues and customers in our Lenexa training center, provide technical development support, write technical white papers, and film content in our video green room, as opportunities and needs arise. 

 

This position will report to the Director of Sales Development for Industry Americas and operate on an hybrid schedule (3 days per week) at our Lenexa, KS office.

 

Your main responsibilities 

  • Advance our division toward our Science Based Targets initiatives (SBTi) goals, i.e. increasing our share of electronically controlled pumps (E-Share) to 50% by 2030.
  • Provide higher level technical support on E-Products & Controls.
  • Support the Industry Project Team on electronics and controls.
  • Collaborate closely with the E-Products & Controls Technical Sales Managers.
  • Be a technical resource for Industry District Sales Managers, OEM Account Managers, and other Strategic Sales Managers. 
  • Provide training to sales colleagues, direct customers, and end users.
  • Create content, e.g. technical white papers, product videos, and higher level documentation for nonstandard products.
  • Generate, review, and approve quotations and proposals.
  • Collaborate closely with other Engineers, Product Managers, Project Managers, Sales leadership, and support staff.  Maintain and leverage relationships across divisions and functions.
  • Make occasional field sales calls in-person as large opportunities arise. Provide field support, service, and troubleshoot applications.
  • Log all activities, inquires, interactions, and quotations in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program in a detailed, ongoing, and timely manner.

 

Your background 

We imagine that you have:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in a technical sales, engineering, or project management environment. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience is required.
  • Exhibit knowledge of best practices in relevant systems, local laws, and regulations where applicable.
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing environment is an advantage.
  • Ability to learn and support advanced software designed for reliability solutions.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex industrial plant processes.
  • Ability to support end users on basic integration of our products with 3rd party controllers.
  • Understanding of simple control systems, control strategies and PLC programming.
  • Ability to read P&ID’s.
  • Capable of reading electrical diagrams, writing specifications, and explaining how our product integrates to 3rd party panel/controls vendors.
  • An understanding of pumping and hydraulics and typical applications is a value addition.
  • Proven capability to quickly troubleshoot complex problems and identify the right solutions.
  • Knowledge of various fieldbus communication protocols, including Modbus, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, BACnet, LONWorks  et al.
  • Must possess good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and selling skills.
  • Ability to train both internal sales colleagues and customers.
