GRUNDFOS UK are looking for a Proposal Manager to manage our European Industry team, based in our Leighton Buzzard head office.


As the manager of the Industry Projects proposal team, your primary responsibility is to support your direct reports from customer request for quotation through to submittal of the proposal to the customer, ensuring satisfaction and profitable business.

Your team is located throughout Europe, so a key success factor is to be able to drive a truly international and productive team with high satisfaction in a virtual environment. It is also vital that you build and maintain strong relationships within the sales organisation across all areas.

The European Industry Project Office team is a newly created team which has been created to enhance our Industry 2025 strategy of becoming a solution provider within prioritised applications by spearheading the development of our Project business. As the manager of this team, you would be overall responsible for the European region inside these 3 stages of our sales: offer, negotiation, and order fulfillment.

What does this role look like?


You will be accountable for the project proposals team that drives proposals requests for quotation to final negotiations to close deals.  You will be responsible for ensuring that the team utilize the agreed systems and project processes, timely and with high quality.

As the line manager you will support, motivate, energise, challenge and develop the team to maximize the project sales effort and effectiveness.

You will also be responsible for:


  • Co-ordinating the planning and prioritisation of the proposals working closely with external sales teams and their managers.
  • Ensure that the team is following business processes and IT systems, such us stages of definition, planning, solution development, procurement, construction, bid/no bid analysis, and handover, including risk assessment
  • Improving process methodology for project proposals
  • Monitoring and reporting on project proposal progress, risk assessment and profitability
  • Select and manage sub-suppliers and sub-contractors with supply agreements and ensure alignment of service levels
  • Deal with customer issues when re


What do you need to apply?

  • Proven experience of quoting projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment on time, cost and quality.
  • Excellent business and technical experience, with a strong talent for enabling productive communication between groups
  • Managerial experience leading teams, experience of remote managing would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of pumps, dosing and disinfection systems or similar
  • Experience in contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of the competences required in projects– technical expertise, finance, logistics, contracts, quality, Health and Safety, ISO norms, export regulations, etc
  • Positive and resilient personality
  • Great people skills and highly empathic
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills verbally and written
  • Great stakeholder management skills - across borders and on all levels
  • The ability to work in a demanding and ever changing environment where meeting time deadlines are a key task
  • Experience in working with CRM/SAP PS/BW, Microsoft Office packages, Project management tools
  • Travel within Europe will be required
