What is the job about?
The Lead Sales Engineer drives market share growth in the Water Utilities segment by combining deep technical expertise with strategic sales execution. Acting as the regional expert for specialized water treatment solutions—such as disinfection applications—the role supports key accounts, market segments, and sales teams across the region.
This position focuses on building strong relationships with specifying and consulting engineers, influencing technical decisions, and providing expert product support to colleagues. Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the role evolves in line with the region’s five-year strategic plan.
Your main responsibilities:
- Drive market share growth in the Water Utilities segment across the assigned region through focused sales strategies and account development.
- Lead regional Grid & Capture activities, identifying high‑potential customers, engineering firms, distribution channels, and specialized product opportunities.
- Act as the regional expert for water treatment solutions, providing technical and commercial support for specialized products from pre‑sales through start‑up and commissioning.
- Develop the Water Treatment Hub in Mexico and Central America by engaging end users (water authorities), generating demand, and building trusted long‑term relationships.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers, specifying and consulting engineers, distributors, and strategic accounts; directly manage selected key accounts.
- Maximize Grundfos’ technical footprint by influencing specifications and expanding product application across engineering and end‑user accounts.
- Enable commercial excellence by training sales teams and distributors and supporting colleagues across Business Units with technical expertise.
- Contribute to market intelligence, pricing optimization, and channel strategy to improve competitiveness, conversion rates, and customer value.
- Ensure project success and compliance through CRM accuracy, reporting, budget control, and effective time management.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment applications.
- Strong technical expertise in Water Utilities, with demonstrated knowledge of disinfection solutions and treatment processes.
- Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with customers, engineers, and management at all levels.
- Proven consultative selling skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor, influence technical decisions, and negotiate effectively.
- Experience performing at a trainer or mentor level, enabling the development of sales teams and distributors.
- Solid business acumen, including understanding of profit and loss fundamentals and revenue flow within an organization.
- Confidence delivering business and technical presentations to diverse audiences and senior stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
- High adaptability and willingness to travel extensively (50–60%), including overnight stays and occasional weekends.
