Technical Specialist/Specification Analyst

Peerless Pump Company is seeking a Specification Analyst to join its CSU Team.  The Specification Analyst will be responsible for accurate and timely design and processing of customer orders which are not defined as projects. Review and clarify deviations in customer order with Application Engineering, Design Engineering and Sales and Distribution regarding product limitations and configuration. Review order for accuracy and pricing.  Configure and create bill of materials required for the scope of the order using standardized design calculations and engineering tools as set for the product line.  Produce complete order documentation reflecting the customer order including SAP configurations, classification, shop documentation package and purchase requisitions as required. This position reports directly to the Sr. CSU & ESU Engineering Manager and will operate on a hybrid schedule (4 days in the office) out of the Indianapolis facility.  Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about? 

  • Conduct order review to verify required order entry documentation, committed scope of supply including performance guarantees, documentation, calculations, and testing

  • Provide feedback to sales and applications of oversights involving equipment scope and commercial liabilities (Warranty, payment terms, delivery, cancellation, etc.)

  • Produce customer specific drawings as required on the order write up

  • Create and maintain bills of material to meet order requirements

  • Use the engineering change process, create, coordinate and maintain complex Bills of Material, Material Masters, drawing revisions and part attribute data in corporate information system (SAP)

  • Create order specific component drawings using generators and AutoCAD

  • Communicate with both technical and non-technical resources within the factory to obtain the information necessary to address customer questions and concerns

  • Review CRM inquiries and complete requests as needed

  • Initiate requests thru CRM CIC for pump order processing, new martials, engineering support, etc.

  • Provide order specific requirements, final destination and end user as required on purchase requisitions

  • Build “production package” for delivery to manufacturing including product-specific manufacturing and test instructions

  • Maintain state of the art level of competency by attending training courses, seminars, workshops, etc. as required

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.)


What do you need to apply? 

Qualified candidates will possess a Associates Technical degree or equivalent experience in design or applications. 

 

  • Advanced written and oral communication skills with attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use proper grammar and spelling

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability for detail and quality-minded work habits

  • Comprehensive background with rotating equipment including drivers, controls, and interface a plus

  • Advanced understanding of pump principals, pump construction, hydraulics, and application of products preferred  

  • Basic technical/math skills and ability to interpret specifications (engineering drawings)

  • Skilled with computer software tools to include, but not limited to, Windows, Outlook & Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Adobe DC, Etc.) 

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD a plus

  • Working knowledge of SAP (MM, SD and PP) preferred

  • Ability to develop a positive relationship with customers, sales, production, procurement, quality, and all other internal teams

  • Excellent critical reasoning skills

  • Highly organized with a positive work ethic and can work with little direct supervision
