As our new Application Engineer, you will be providing expert technical support and engineered quotations—spanning part and pump selection, sizing, pricing, and design—to deliver solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements while driving continuous improvement across the order-winning process. What you will be doing:
As a key part of the Fire Applications Engineering team, you'll create impact by bridging the gap between customer needs and factory capabilities, ensuring every solution is technically sound, competitively priced, and delivered on time.
Your main responsibilities include:

- Review product specifications to determine technical requirements including part, pump and equipment selection, sizing, costing, and pricing development
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to obtain pricing and technical information for accurate proposals
- Provide detailed customer-specific requirements to Project Management, production, and purchasing. Including pricing, preliminary design information, and specification exceptions
- Be the voice of the customer to the factory, advocating for the customer’s needs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies and errors throughout the order-winning process
- Complete all projects as assigned and perform other duties as required in conjunction with Grundfos Values
- Conduct post-fulfillment project reviews to identify causes of margin erosion and implement improvements to protect future profitability
What makes you a great fit:
Above all, you are a technically minded professional with strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a high sense of urgency, someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, sales, and customer advocacy. We would also imagine that you have:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or business with equivalent technical sales and manufacturing experience, or equivalent experience
- Understanding of pumps, hydraulics, fire listings, and rotating equipment applications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with SAP, Salesforce, or CRM systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
It is a plus if you also:
- Have previous experience in the Fire Pump market, engineering, project management, or sales within a manufacturing environment
- Have experience with continuous improvement methodologies
- Have customer facing experience

The salary range for this position is $58,400 to $87,352 per year. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Grundfos’s & Peerless Pump Company total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Certain roles are eligible to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization.
