What is the job about?
As a Senior Buyer, you will be part of the Peerless Pump Supply Chain Planning Team and will be fully responsible for the purchasing of materials for the schedule of customer orders, supporting an MTO/ETO pump manufacturing facility. Together with the rest of the Supply Chain Function, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for making sure that purchased materials are available and on time to customer expectations. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for performing a series of detailed MRP tasks and taking adequate actions to ensure demand and supply align.
This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Supervisor and will operate out of Indianapolis, IN facility in a hybrid function

The salary range for this position is 64,500 USD – 80,000 USD. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, In.
Your main responsibilities:
- Responsible for the completion of daily tasks effecting Purchase order performance including, but not limited to
- Purchase order submittals in SAP
- Follow up on demand vs supply
- Work with vendors to ensure delivery on time
- Reconcile supply/vendor related discrepancies
- Run a series of daily MRP transactions & reports, and initiate actions to ensure full alignment between demand and supply.
- Release and maintain purchase orders in support of customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchase orders accordingly to avoid shortages or overstock.
- Interact with suppliers to communicate delivery expectations and ensure suppliers meet confirmed delivery
- Resolve purchase order issues and bottlenecks to minimize delays and maintain delivery timelines.
- Maintain accurate purchase order data in ERP systems.
- Optimize purchasing and MRP related master data.
- Follow-up on return purchase orders to suppliers to collect credit on defective materials.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to manage expectations and resolve issues.
- Accountable for meeting deliverables to support company strategies.
- Work towards reducing lead times to meet customer and market requirements.
- Escalate concerns when supplier cannot meet customer demands.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- A minimum of 5+ years in a Buyer role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of foundry processes, tooling, and casting materials is preferred to directly support product quality.
- Background in purchasing castings
- Highly organized and good at following up.
- Must be able to communicate in a professional manner, with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong time management skills with a sense of urgency.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Microsoft 365, Power BI).
- Sound knowledge off and experience working with MRP.
- Thrives in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Thorough and diligent.
- Experience working in an ERP system, preferably SAP (MM and PP modules).
- Experience from a manufacturing background.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
