Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Machinist II to join its 2nd shift Machining team in Indianapolis.

As our new Machinist II - 2nd Shift, you will be performing complete setups including advanced programming, editing, and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and mills while mentoring fellow team members and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor. What you will be doing
As a key part of the Manufacturing Machine Shop team, you'll create impact by delivering precision-machined components that power Peerless Pump solutions, ensuring quality and efficiency while helping develop the next generation of machinists on your team.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Complete setup including CNC programming (Fanuc Controls/G Code), editing, operation, and preventative maintenance on milling centers, lathes, and mills
- Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
- Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut; perform offsets, fixturing, and adjustments for tool wear and finish quality
- Inspect finished work pieces for conformance to prints and GD&T specifications using precision measuring instruments and gages
- Provide hands-on training and guidance to other machinists on assembly activities, processes, and best practices
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and 5S standards while completing all required manual and electronic documentation accurately
What makes you a great fit
Above all, you are a precision-focused machinist with strong CNC programming skills, advanced blueprint reading ability, and the confidence to work independently while mentoring others in a fast-paced job shop environment.
We would also imagine that you have:
- High School Diploma or GED/HSE with 2-4 years of manual machining experience (mills, drills, grinders)
- 1-3 years of CNC programming, operation, and setup experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen-Bradley controls
- Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading, shop math (decimals, fractions, geometry, trigonometry), and GD&T
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in a non-climate-controlled facility
It is a plus if you also:
- Additional technical training or certification in machining or manufacturing technology
- Strong experience using machining centers in a job shop environment with precision threading, boring, and grooving
- Veterans with related technical MOS experience are strongly encouraged to apply

The salary range for this position is $53,000-$70,290 (paid hourly, non-exempt). Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.
