As our new Machinist II - 2nd Shift, you will be performing complete setup, programming, editing, and operation of CNC and manual machines to manufacture centrifugal pump components at our Peerless Pump facility in Indianapolis. What you will be doing
As a key part of the Process Pump Machining team, you'll create impact by Delivering precision-machined components that power Peerless centrifugal pumps used in critical applications worldwide, while mentoring teammates and driving continuous improvement on the shop floor.
Your main responsibilities include:
•    Set up, program (Fanuc/G Code), edit, and operate CNC machining centers, lathes, mills, and manual machines to produce pump components to tight tolerances
•    Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences
•    Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, and materials; calculate and set speed, feed, depth of cut, and coolant flow parameters
•    Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust offsets, tooling, and controls to maintain quality
•    Verify finished work pieces against prints and specifications; perform secondary operations including deburring, drilling, and tapping
•    Train and mentor fellow machinists, maintain equipment through preventative maintenance, and uphold 5S, safety, and quality standards
What makes you a great fit
Above all, you are a hands-on precision machinist with strong blueprint reading skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to independently set up and run CNC and manual equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. We would also imagine that you have:
•    High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
•    Mechanical aptitude with ability to read blueprints and apply shop math (fractions, decimals, geometry, trigonometry)
•    This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, lift/push/pull, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach when assembling parts in a non-climate-controlled factory environment.
•    Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
•    Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future
It is a plus if you also:
•    2-4 years of manual machining experience (mills, drills, grinders) and 1-3 years of CNC programming/setup experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Allen-Bradley controls
•    Advanced knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and experience in a job shop machining environment
•    Experience with material handling equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists) and familiarity with Lean/manufacturing principles

The salary range for this position is $53,000-$70,290. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc.  Peerless Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.
