Peerless Pump, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an area Production Supervisor [day shift] for its Indianapolis Machine Shop. 

The Production Supervisor will report to Machine Shop Manufacturing Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (principally Mon-Fri).

 

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the role about?

 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for meeting departmental quality, productivity, utilization, costs, and headcount objectives by training, motivating and managing employees in a team oriented production environment.  Work involves a thorough understanding of plant operations, company policies, practices, and procedures and the ability to resolve conflicts/issues through collaborative team efforts.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops production plan by reviewing production schedules and coordinating material flow with other departments; Develop and implement lean manufacturing strategies.
  • Trains, develops, motivates, and leads team of people to achieve established goals and objectives related to production, utilization, quality, efficiency and safety (ISO 9001, ISO 140001.
  • Responsible for understanding company policies, practices and procedures and for developing employees by coaching, counseling, and disciplining in accordance with such policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Interviews and recommends the hiring of personnel; Assesses employee performance, provide frequent constructive feedback to employees and conduct performance reviews.
  • Consistently works on continuous improvement processes to include recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product while operating within assigned budget.
  • Contribute to the team effort by working in a collaborative manner to perform special projects and assignment that support the company’s overall goals and business objectives
  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.  Positive, professional attitude and competitive personality; Detail oriented and very well organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and achieve deadlines.
  • Basic blue print reading, knowledge of machining capabilities, SPC and GD&T; ; Ability to apply basic math and geometry; Experience working with castings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Office, SAP, ADP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CNC and manual equipment operation.    
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds; Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop and sit at a workstation


Education and Experience:

 

  • College degree in related field and / or equivalent 
  • 8+ years of training and experience in machine shop environment
  • 2+ years of supervisor experience and/ or equivalent
  • CAD/CAM experience preferred but not required
