Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Final Inspector to join its Quality team.

The salary range for this position is $55,100-$73,430. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.
What is the job about?
The Quality/Final Inspector independently tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process with increasing focus on problem resolution. Compiles and evaluates order requirements to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. This position reports to, and will take functional direction from, the Quality Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (principally Mon-Fri, with occasional Saturdays).
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Inspect sales order components prior to shipping.
- Review factory orders and production samples.
- Inspect samples of all components prior to acceptance into stock and perform stock checks.
- Perform in process product audits and document test results.
- Assist in procedure compliance audit
- Evaluate corrective action and follow up on product audit results.
Document Creation and Maintenance
- Complete Final Inspection Checklist and provide feedback
- Maintain all quality control drawings and specification files.
- Review manufacturing techniques and results for conformance.
- Suggest quality/product improvements in written form.
- Create and mount order nameplates to product
Equipment Maintenance
Assist in the fabrication of specialized test fixtures, development of basic inspection instructions, and maintenance/calibration of test equipment.
Oversee equipment calibration and maintenance records in Final Inspection Area
Key Success Factors
Supporting the production areas by checking the quality of operations upstream and protecting the customer from negative impacts of poor quality and efficiently addressing any issues that may impact the quality or timeliness of deliveries.
Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations
This position works as part of the Quality Team, and will continuously interface with Production, Shipping, Stores, Customer Support, Applications Engineering, and Sales.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- High School diploma, GED/HSE, HiSET or equivalency *required
- Associate’s degree in Engineering/Science *much preferred.
- 1 - 3 years experience in product assembly or related field; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience *preferred
- 3-5 years of Quality Measurement Inspection experience *plus
- Operating experience using CALYPSO software on Zeiss Contura CMM desired. *plus
- Veterans with related technical MOS experience are strongly encouraged to apply. *much preferred
- Competencies
- Knowledge of common hand tools, shop equipment, and inspection tools.
- Ability to interpret blue prints.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of SAP HANA or higher
Work Conditions
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Special equipment is to be used for items that are over 50 pounds.
- Able to work in non-climate controlled industrial factory environment.
