Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join its Quick Response Center/Service group.

What is the job about? 

 

The Field Service Technician is responsible for field service applications and commissioning service for Peerless products.  Assist with workshop repairs, deliver service on preventative maintenance contracts, and installation / troubleshooting of pumps in the field.  Position reports to the Service Director and may also take functional direction from Field Service Engineer and will be domiciled at the Indianapolis, IN facility.  

 

Your main responsibilities: 

 

  • Perform installation & commissioning service / supervised service and repairs on other related building system products at customer sites. 
  • Perform field service on Peerless products.
  • Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturer’s pumps. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, work orders, schematics and operational product manuals. 
  • Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Setup, operate, and interpret results from electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, multi-function test meters, etc.
  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, inspect and repair all pumps (including competitor pumps); Service pumps and pumping equipment in the field.
  • Recommend the need to repair or replace components.
  • Diagnose and trouble-shoot to determine type of repair required.
  • Determine sequence of steps needed to complete assignment.
  • Provide training and instruction to other employees as required.
  • Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval functions
  • Perform preventive maintenance per schedules
  • Assist subcontracted service and maintenance technicians as required.
  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).

 

Competencies

 

  • All hand and power tools required to perform maintenance work including electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, machine installation, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair, machine tool disassembly, overhaul and assembly, and automotive type repairs.
  • Previous experience with pumps, pump systems, and associated materials
  • Lift truck, man lift, two wheel trucks, and carts.
  • Precision measuring instruments.
  • Electronic test equipment.
  • Data terminals and personal computers
  • Software - Excel, Word, general PC skills
  • Technical problem-solving

 

Competencies–developed:

  • Hardware – data collection instruments
  • Adherence to personal safety (situational awareness)    

 

Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations

 

Position reports to the PPU Service Director.  Works closely with Field Service Engineer and other Peerless associates. 

 

Your background

 

We imagine that you have:  

 

  • High school diploma, GED/HSE, HiSET or equivalent *required 
  • Technical education is preferred. *equivalent in a technical subject preferred.
  • Must be able to travel up to 75%

 

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
