Peerless Pump Company is seeking an experienced Facility Engineer to join its Product Offering and Development team.  The Facility Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the building & grounds maintenance and utility infrastructure of an industrial manufacturing facility.  The Facilities Engineer will work with a high level of autonomy to keep all key building utilities and infrastructure operating without interruption.
Working with internal resources and external contractors, the Facilities Engineer will plan, oversee, and manage routine repair, maintenance, and facility improvement projects.  The Facilities Engineer is responsible for tracking and completing all preventative maintenance activities relating to the facility and the grounds.  In addition, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning and managing capital investment projects related to the facility to ensure the proper amount of investment is made to ensure the long-term viability of the facility.  This position requires someone that is willing to be flexible with their work schedule, including weekends and evenings to manage projects or breakdowns as required. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, Indiana facility.  Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about? 

 

  • Maintain the facility, including all systems, fixtures, appliances, and grounds in an operational and clean manner.  This includes the repair, replacement, maintenance, and installation of new assets as needed.

  • Ensures facility is operating in compliance with codes, laws, and regulations.

  • Obtain quotes and assist with negotiating and coordinating contractor services and supplies.

  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities with the least amount of disruption to production

  • Maintain a stock of facility replacement parts and supplies, initiating a replenishment system to maximize availability while minimizing costs.

  • Maintain building systems; HVAC, Water, Emergency, etc.… to optimize employee comfort and organizational cost.

  • Manage facilities budget including annual planning, monthly forecasting, and periodic expense approvals.

  • Identify and work with the EHS personnel to initiate activities that minimize Grundfos’ impact on the environment, through reduced use of resources (gas, electricity, water, etc.), reduction in waste, or increase in recycling.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce facility expenses through process changes, investments, and facility enhancements.

  • Audit facility and grounds regularly to make sure that all systems are operating efficiently and safely.

  • Implement improvements in facility safety and reduce costs.

  • Analyze and solve complex facilities problems, using advanced problem-solving skills.

  • Utilize and support facility based CMMS (UpKeep)  key facility systems and infrastructure

  • Assist in the development of maintenance technicians as it relates to facilities, including the creation of appropriate work instructions.

  • Develop and implement standard work practices for key business processes.

  • Develop and maintain facility related key supplier/contractor list.

  • Keep current with industry technology and trends as it relates to the facility and construct business cases for investments to improve building operating expense.
     

What do you need to apply? 

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field from an accredited institution required. Additionally, have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in leading facilities engineering and or maintenance activities within a manufacturing environment. Plus, experience in continuously maintaining and improving manufacturing facilities.

 

  • Experience working with city/county/state officials and utility companies as it relates to facilities maintenance is preferred.

  • High aptitude for facilities & building systems such as roofing, exterior, flooring, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, and electrical.

  • Analytical aptitude: must have the ability to analyze and develop business cases for capital Investments.

  • Working knowledge of the maintenance modules within SAP.

  • High ethical standards in all business dealings.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with many different types of personalities both internally and externally to Grundfos.

  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements in a manufacturing setting.

  • Proven ability to successfully initiate, supervise, and facilitate projects and teams.

  • Ability to read and understand architectural blueprints.

  • High level of skill with Microsoft Office programs with at least an intermediate level of Excel.

  • Ability to use CAD system such as AutoCAD or Solidworks is a plus.
