Continuous Improvement Intern Indianapolis (Summer 2026, onsite)

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking a Continuous Improvement Intern for its Summer 2026 Intern Program.
The Continuous Improvement Intern will report to the Continuous Improvement Director, and may take functional direction from Continuous Improvement Specialists, operating daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (Mon-Fri).
Summer Interns at Peerless Pump are given opportunities to participate in department projects with the goal to help expand their technical education and aid in completion of projects. Continuous Improvement Intern will work with CI Specialists to complete assignments. Projects will involve re-engineering and improving processes to increase throughput, reduce inventory, improve quality, and reduce costs. Projects may involve interfacing with other departments such as manufacturing, logistics, purchasing, scheduling, quality, order processing and sales. At the end of the term, Summer Interns will prepare a project status report to present to senior management within the company to explain impact of their project and receive direct feedback on performance.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. The salary for this position is $20/hour.

What is the job about?
Continuous Improvement Intern will work with CI Specialists to complete assignments. Projects will involve re-engineering and improving processes to increase throughput, reduce inventory, improve quality, and reduce costs.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Observe processes, including time-studies, to identify areas for improvement
- Analyze and evaluate current business processes, practices, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement
- Apply methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to drive process improvements
- Support the creation and implementation of strategies to increase throughput, reduce defects & waste, improve quality, and increase productivity
- Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).

Improvement projects completed, throughput increases, lead time reductions, reduced defects
Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations
This position will be embedded within the Continuous Improvement team, and collaborate internally and cross functionally with other Peerless teams such as; Operations, Order Processing, Purchasing, Scheduling, Logistics, and Quality.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Working towards a B.S. degree in Engineering, ME Tech, (or related) from an accredited university
- Proficient using Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Visio knowledge *plus
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc. *much preferred
- Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent follow up skills
- A strong work ethic is highly important including multitasking ability.
- Person should be able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment taking personal responsibility for assignment.
- Person must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Work Conditions
- May be asked to perform physical work such as lifting and assembling product
- Capable of mobility in a manufacturing environment
- Able to lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 lbs. Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods
- 50-75% office (desk), 25-50% non-climate controlled shop.
