Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an Assembler to join its Indianapolis Production Team. 

The Medium Assembler is responsible for all activities as it relates to the assembly, quality check and hydraulic pressure tests of Standard products. This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility.  

 

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair all horizontal and standard vertical pumps; Perform operations such as drilling, tapping, fitting, filing, polishing, honing, reaming, countersinking, and adjusting; obtain items for purposes of assembly.
  • Checks components prior to assembly for suitability of use.
  • Perform layout work required for assembly and some mounting; Mount pumps and other accessories and components to base plates using mechanical fasteners.
  • Performs manual and electronic record keeping and information retrieval functions.
  • Setup, prepare, and perform hydraulic pressure tests and record results and some mechanical tests
  • Makes some electrical and mechanical connections.
  • Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).


What do you need to apply?

 

  • High School Diploma and some knowledge of work in a similar environment.

 
Physical and Environmental Requirements:

 

  • This position requires the incumbent to stand for extended periods of time, frequently grasp tools, stoop, crouch, reach, stand, and walk when performing duties; twist and reach when assembling parts.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
  • Lifting pumps and/or boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in a non-climate controlled factory or field environment.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Data terminal, personal computer, electronic engraver.
  • Precision measuring equipment (e.g. gages, scales, calipers, indicators, etc.)
  • Use of power tools and some machinery or equipment (e.g. arbor press, hydraulic press, radial drill press, Power saw, pipe cut-off and threading machine).
