Grundfos Water Utility (WU) is excited to announce an exceptional opportunity as the VP of Product Development & Digital. In this position, you will play a vital role within our renowned WU Leadership team, directly reporting to the divisional CEO of the WU division. What is the job about?  

Grundfos is known a s innovation leader in Water segment and this position is playing a vital role in maintaining this position. As the Head of Product Development and Digital offering, you will be responsible for creating an agile ecosystem of internal and external teams and able to create continuous customer value by executing on Grundfos new Products and Solutions roadmaps and maintaining the existing solutions portfolio through the life cycle. You will need to work closely with internal and external teams to scan the markets for new technologies that can support Grundfos water Utility strategy and growth. While working in close collaboration with the applications management teams and regions, this ecosystem will also include a wide variety of stakeholders such as Grundfos Group Technology and Innovation, other Grundfos divisions, External suppliers, partners, universities, start-ups, etc.

 

The overall Product and Digital Development organization will be run as a best-in-class set-up and will create an agile organizational platform where people across functions come together to develop WU core products and digital offerings. You will head a multi-sited experienced team. In the light of the targeted growth, you will have the opportunity to define the global footprint of the organization with the ambition to generate or grow a competence centre in the most promising regions.

 

 Your main responsibilities:  

  • Scan the market and ecosystem to identify key new technologies and innovations that can help delivering solutions to cover customer needs and maintain Grundfos leading innovation position.
  • Build a high-performing team focused on growth, innovation, and complex problem solving across the value chain, with the potential for scaling up or down as needed. (Initial team of more than 100 FTEs with continuous up and down scaling depending on the need.)
  • Work closely with application team to decide on key core and digital products and solutions roadmap, priorities and agree on the path to deliver Grundfos growth target.
  • Lead the Grundfos Water Utility products management team and work with other internal and external parties to deliver on products and solutions roadmap.
  • Manage the product development budget and execute the project on time, with best quality and at budget.
  • Maintain WU core product and solutions portfolio across various segments, optimizing the hardware and software ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain Grundfos Water Utility Digital platform to address market needs including:
    • Enabling cloud connectivity of products and solutions.
    • Optimizing connectivity solutions in terms of performance, cost, and customer value.
    • Designing and architecting cloud solutions.
    • Ensuring security in IoT, data, software, and hardware.
    • Maintaining the quality of IoT products and system solutions.
    • Extending offers to include system solutions and virtual reality applications.
    • Oversee UX/UI designs across technical offerings.
    • Implementing analytics for predictive maintenance of technically complex products.

 

Your background 

We imagine that you have: 

  • Functional Experience and Technical Understanding

10+ years of relevant experience leading global software and hardware development teams.

Deep knowledge of Water segment with ability to lead teams of Mechanical, Electrical Controls and digital development engineers.

Previous experience in development of the product and solutions for water and wastewater pumps, water segment primary equipment and assets and digital IoT platforms for Utility segment is an advantage.

Deep understanding of emerging trends and technologies within the water segment.

  • Agility and Change Management

Change management skills with a proven track record of creating agile and innovative solutions and work environments

  • International Exposure

Significant international exposure with ability to work with multicultural teams.

  • Team Leadership

Experience in a leadership role, building and developing high performing teams. Experience with the management of teams split across geographies

  • Stakeholder Management

Ability to navigate a complex matrix organization in an international and cross-functional context, including a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work in “start-up mode” while also addressing senior corporate management

  • Academics/Language

Master’s degree in electronics, mechanics, software engineering, computer science or another related technical degree can be an advantage. Fluency in English is required

Water Utilities (WU) is headquartered in Houston, Texas. This division focuses primarily on two industry verticals: Ground Water Intake (GWI) to bring water from underground to where it is needed and the Municipal segment serving a multitude of large and small municipal institutions in centralized and decentralized settings.

 

Given the favorable macro trends such as population growth, urbanization, climate change and sustainability; this division has ambitious goals to grow significantly leveraging organic and in-organic growth plans.
