What is the job about?   

 

Peerless Pump Company, a Grundfos subsidiary, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join its Engineered Systems team.  The Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support for the Order Winning, Order Fulfillment and Field Service of engineered-to-order (ETO) business working closely with Project Managers.  The objective is to develop scope, technical documentation, review engineered drawings and specifications to meet customer needs and order requirements and translate the requirements into our business systems. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager- Engineered Systems and will operate on a hybrid schedule out of the Willowbrook Park Drive, Houston facility.  Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support. 

This role is not located in Brookshire, Texas. It is located on Willowbrook Drive, Houston, Texas. 

 

Your main responsibilities:  

  • Position will design and detail engineer Peerless Pump Engineered-To-Order Fire Package Systems and other pumping systems as required.
  • Design of systems includes pump selection, design of piping system, and ancillary equipment with the scope of supply
  • Perform technical review and data collection from customer documentation (including returned submittals), specifications, drawings, purchase order, hand over meetings, and technical standards
  • Identify scope through quotations and specifications and preorder components as needed early in order review
  • Obtain supplier quotes for custom and special components in cooperation with the ETO purchaser and planner
  • Review, prepare and compile shop fabrication drawings including obtaining and verifying vendor submittal data packages and installation, operation and maintenance manuals for the customer
  • Coordinate and conduct factory testing as required per the project agreements, which may consist of developing testing configuration drawings, data tables and other requirements to properly perform a test

 

Your background 

 

We imagine that you have:    

 

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a four-year technical degree or engineering degree or equivalent experience in design or applications role.  Additionally, have 3-5 years experience with rotating and hydraulic equipment including drivers, controls, and interface is desired. Manufacturing related experience is advantageous.

 

  • Working knowledge of design software, Solid Works, Draftsite/AutoCAD, etc
  • Experience in Fire Package Systems, NFPA 20, and other pump systems is favorable
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written are a must
  • A good work ethic is very important including the ability to prioritize various tasks
  • Understanding of pump principles, pump construction, hydraulics, and application of products and accessories is desirable
  • Must have a comprehensive familiarity of computer software including Microsoft OFFICE (Excel, Word, Power Point, TEAMs) and knowledge with ADOBE PRO, etc
  • Must have ability to develop a positive relationship with our customers, sales, production, procurement, quality and all other internal teams
  • May be required to travel to meetings with customers and field sites
