Engineering Intern Indianapolis (Summer 2026, onsite)

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking Engineering Interns for its Summer 2026 Intern Program.
The Engineering Intern will report to the Engineering Director, also taking functional direction from the Chief Engineer, and operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (Mon-Fri).
Summer Interns at Peerless Pump are given opportunities to participate in department projects with the goal to help expand their technical education and aid in completion of projects. At the end of the term, Interns will prepare a project status report to present to senior management within the company to explain impact of their project and receive direct feedback on performance.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Sponsorship is not available for applicants for US Work visa status for this opportunity (no sponsorship is available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT or any other employment-based visa.
The salary for this position is $20/hour.

What is the job about?
Interns will work with staff engineers to complete assignments. Projects may involve interfacing with other departments such as machine shop, purchasing, vendors, quality, order processing and sales.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Preparation and modification of engineering drawings using both manual and computer-aided systems such as CATIA or AutoCAD
- Preparation and modification of engineering bill of materials (BOM) in ERP system (SAP)
- Support in assembly and testing of projects in the manufacturing release phase, this would include data reduction and presentation from lab
- Perform work, promote teamwork and communicate in conjunction with our culture and corporate standards (Safety/Environmental, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Communication, Internal Controls, etc.).
Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations
This position will work within the Engineering team, and collaborate internally and cross functionally with other Peerless teams.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Working towards a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, ME Tech, (or equivalent) from an accredited university *incoming 3rd or 4th year preferred
- Knowledge base of Computational Fluid Dynamics *much preferred
- Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent follow up skills
- Person must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- A strong work ethic is highly important including multitasking ability.
- Proficient using electronic tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe)
- Maybe asked to perform physical work such as lifting and assembling product for testing
- Able to create 3D models and 2D prints in CATIA or AutoCAD
Work Conditions
Will work closely with office and shop floor personnel in an engineering, testing, and manufacturing environment. 90% office (desk), 10% Shop – reviewing components, quality inspection assistance
