EHS Intern - Indianapolis [onsite, day shift]

Peerless Pump Company, an Indianapolis based subsidiary of Grundfos, is seeking an EHS Intern to join its 2025 Summer Intern Program in the Environmental, Health and Safety Team.
The EHS Intern will report to, and take functional direction from, the EHS Manager, and will operate daily out of the Indianapolis, IN facility (onsite, Monday-Friday).
Summer Interns at Peerless Pump are given opportunities to participate in department projects with the goal to help expand their technical education and aid in completion of projects. At the end of the term, Interns will prepare a project status report to present to senior management within the company to explain impact of their project and receive direct feedback on performance.
Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

What is the job about?
The Peerless Pump EHS Intern will provide support in the administration of Peerless Pump’s environmental, health & safety programs with emphasis on compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Administrative support will include file management, data entry, recordkeeping, report writing, performing inspections, and conducting research in the following:
- OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations
- ISO 14001 & 45001 EHS system management
- Environmental permits
- EHS training program development
- Safety hazard and environmental risk assessments
- EHS plans, procedures, or work instructions
- Chemical inventory and data management
- Sustainability monitoring and measuring
Posting, Reporting, and Work Relations
- This role will report directly to the EHS Manager.
- Collaboration with other members of the EHS team and communication with various levels of the organization is expected.

Required Minimum Qualifications
- Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Sustainability, or Environmental Sciences (or related) from an accredited university *incoming 3rd or 4th year preferred - not required
- Proficient in MS products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Experience with Teams or videoconferencing is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams and external partners
- Person must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Competencies
- Positive attitude, an ability to work with multiple people, and the ability to work in a self-directed/self-driven manner to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Strong written, oral communication skills, and an attention to detail.
- Regular and reliable attendance as assigned.
- Ability to focus on task completion, while maintaining flexibility to move from task-to-task as new information is received.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to develop a visual organization system.
Work conditions:
- This role is expected to be on-site work 5 days/week.
- Total hours can be flexible to meet student’s schedule.
- This role will primarily work in a climate-controlled office with occasional time spent out in the production areas and outdoors.
- The ability to wear required PPE as needed, including safety glasses and safety-toed shoes in the production areas.
