District Sales Manager, Water Utility

What is the job about?

Grundfos, a Great Place to Work® certified company, is seeking a District Sales Manager to join its Water Utility (WU) sales team and be responsible for distribution partners in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

As a District Sales Manager (DSM), you will be responsible for growing the business in the territory by creating and maintaining relationships with municipalities, engineers, and installing contractors in the Dallas Fort Worth area. You will also support the Grundfos Business Partner outside salespeople in your territory who also have front line responsibility for day-to-day sales and market activities with Grundfos end-users.

 

You will be based in, or willing to relocate to, Dallas or Fort Worth and will work remotely.

 

Your main responsibilities:

  • Create, build, grow, and maintain relationships with municipalities and consulting engineering firms.
  • Drive Business Partners to grow sales by making sales visits with their outside salespeople.
  • Participate in local and regional trade shows to facilitate and add value to the selling process.
  • Continually develop knowledge of the business climate, applications, water industry, and competition.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute a territory plan.
  • Continually assess current Municipal / Water Utility distribution channels, develop and evaluate their performance and manage conflict, while ensuring alignment with territory plans.
  • Train business partners on Grundfos products, applications, and sales processes.
  • Maintain data relative to Partners’ outside salespeople, accounts, and activities.
  • Document customer interactions. Prepare reporting as needed.
  • Take part in continued education and training seminars, offered by Grundfos, to obtain and advance product, market and technical knowledge.
  • Operates remotely in Texas – must reside in, or willing to relocate to, Fort Worth or Dallas.

 

Your background

We imagine that you have:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in the Water / Wastewater Industry.
  • Professional sales skills including key account strategies and plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Municipal / Water Utility market segment.
  • Demonstrated an understanding of pumps and pumping systems, rotating equipment including electronically controlled pump systems (VFD, controllers, etc.) used within the Municipal / Water Utility market.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective product presentations for all sizes of audiences for both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills with above average knowledge and use of Microsoft Office application programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Good aptitude for learning and applying new systems and programs.             
  • Have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned area either by car or airplane (up to 75% travel).
  • Ability to travel internationally (maintain an active passport).

 

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
