Engineering
Chief Project Manager, Water Access and Sustainability
Job Description

Are you ready to lead a groundbreaking initiative that transforms how water utilities deliver impact globally?

As Chief Project Manager, Water Access & Sustainability, you will be anchored in our WA&S organization, reporting directly to the Head of WA&S. The position is preferably based in Denmark, but for the right candidate we are also open for other locations such as e.g USA and Singapore.

You will play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling a new business line focused on performance-based utility services—unlocking opportunities for energy optimization, non-revenue water reduction, and water-as-a-service models worldwide. This is your chance to combine strategic leadership with operational excellence, driving solutions that make a measurable difference in global water access.

Working closely with internal teams, global utilities, and technology partners, you will oversee the full value chain—from opportunity identification to measurement and verification (M&V)—while championing innovative service delivery models that redefine industry standards.

About the role
As Chief Project Manager, you will lead the creation and global rollout of performance-based service offerings. You will define the operating model, pilot new approaches, and ensure scalability and impact. This role demands strategic vision, strong stakeholder engagement, and the ability to influence across functions without direct reporting lines.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Establish and launch a new performance-based utility service business line, including operational setup and go-to-market strategy.
  • Define and implement a scalable operating model for global service delivery.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of services—from opportunity identification and system optimization design to execution, maintenance, and M&V.
  • Drive strategic alignment across cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Champion change management initiatives to embed new service models globally.
  • Monitor performance through KPIs and reporting mechanisms to ensure value delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Foster continuous improvement and innovation to maintain industry-leading service quality.

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a visionary leader with deep expertise in water utilities and a proven track record of building new business models. You thrive in complex, global environments and excel at influencing without authority.

Furthermore, we will be looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in water utilities, infrastructure, or similar sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex, multi-disciplinary projects globally.
  • Proven experience in developing and operationalizing new business units or services.
  • Strong understanding of performance-based contracting and utility service models.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

You must expect around six business trips annually, 1–2 weeks in duration.

Why Join Grundfos?
In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping sustainable water solutions—driving innovation, enabling transformation, and delivering measurable impact. You’ll collaborate with passionate colleagues, influence strategic decisions, and help build a future where water access and sustainability go hand in hand.

What You’ll Get

  • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values personal growth, purpose, and work-life balance.
  • Flexible working conditions, including remote options and additional paid days off for volunteering.
  • Competitive compensation, health benefits, and access to well-being programs.
  • Opportunities to lead initiatives that contribute to global sustainability goals.
