What is the job about?  

The Senior Sales Engineer – Digital has the overall responsibility for the sales results and growth of digital products into the Groundwater and Irrigation business.  These products include WellConnect, Grundfos Remote Management, and controls used in pumping applications.  The SSE works closely with the GWI sales team & channel partners, as well as the operations teams to meet annual goals. The SSE has responsibility for developing and implementing marketing strategies and sales tactics to achieve the budgeted sales, market share, and profit growth goals. The SSE will participate in staff meetings and will contribute to the overall strategies and business direction of the GWI business unit. This position reports directly to Area Sales Director and will operate remotely. The selected candidate must reside in the USA. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

 

Your main responsibilities 

  1. Responsible for sales activities into mining applications within the US GWI market including:
    1. Work with Sales Leadership, RSMs, DSMs, TSMs and channel partners to provide forecasting estimates for current products.
    2. Manage and report on the overall US digital sales opportunities in CRM.
    3. Ensure that the sales, market share, and profit objectives are achieved for each product line within the digital product portfolio.
    4. Work closely with the sales team to coordinate the reporting of sales and competitive trends and provide marketplace analysis as part of the senior staff team to establish strategies and determine the best business direction to take.
    5. Work closely with the inside Groundwater Contractor Hotline representative to ensure projects are executed satisfactorily.
  2. Ensure the necessary organizational capabilities are in place to engineer, quote and deliver digital products, such as WellConnect and Grundfos GRM, in a way that meets or exceeds the market standard.
  3. Lead the development of sales volume and sales expense budgets based on the GWI Segment goals.
  4. Develop a strong distribution strategy and implement the necessary changes to increase coverage and gain market share of digital products in the GWI Segment.
  5. Full participation and compliance with Grundfos USA commercial excellence activities, such as pipeline management, rhythm meetings, SIOP planning and CRM.
  6. Develop strong relationship with all major distribution partners, OEM partners, industry consultants, and professional and trade association leaders.
  7. Work with the sales team and channel partners to analyze trends and potential within existing and new markets, establish new partners in each market, and ensure excellent support for partners.
  8. Support the GWI segment strategies and activities for investigating and launching new products.   Forecast projections will need to be supported by budget commitments.

 

Your background 

We imagine that you have:   

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field.  
  • Experience selling digital products to small businesses. 
  • Experience with the Groundwater business.
  • Strong Team Player with the ability to develop and lead multiple sales teams and work cross functionally across multiple business units.
  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of digital products for small businesses. 
  • Track record of success in a software or digital sales, including excellent pipeline management skills.
  • Success selling digital controls and Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Able to work with geographically separated groups and many people with different ideas to accomplish the target goals. (Sales and manufacturing company management staff, sales force, North American and headquarters product segment team, Partners, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Microsoft Office computer skill level “good” in Word, Excel, and Power Point.   Able to develop “what-if” spreadsheets, presentations, etc.
  • Good ability to translate sales reports, market studies, and industry reports into successful strategies.
  • Good ability to manage budgets.
  • Working knowledge of customer service, software sales, and logistics functions
  • The ability to operate remotely.
  • A willingness to travel up to 50% if necessary. As a result, candidates should be able to maintain valid identification.
