What is the job about?  

We at Grundfos USA are looking for a Senior Controls Application Engineer to join our CSSC (Customer Sales Support Center) Water Utility team.

 

As a Controls Application Engineer, you will be responsible for Grundfos controls applications for water treatment and boosting systems, including PLC development, selection, and coordination of integration to control panels for pumping system applications.  Responsibilities include documentation of technical details for assigned products, programming review and guidance, and supporting marketing with technical information for product promotions.  Responsible for increasing the overall competence level within the USA sales and customer support functions for Grundfos and PLC based controls.

 

This position reports directly to the WU CSSC Manager and will operate on a hybrid schedule out of any of our offices in Brookshire, TX (USA), Apodaca (Mexico), Bogota (Columbia), Lima (Peru) or Santiago de Chile (Chile).

Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the above countries without support.

 

Your main responsibilities 

  • Accountable for executing the assigned and agreed to deliverables within a development project.  E.g. System performance analysis, motor and controller (VFD) interaction and setup, communication protocols, and PLC programming.
  • Become proficient in Grundfos products and develop a good technical understanding of applications. 
  • Support development projects, including boosting (HydroMPC), submersible and custom water treatment projects that require design, analysis and testing with reference to the controls content of these projects or orders.
  • Performs specification review and controls application support for proposals including vendor quotations.
  • Provide technical information to Grundfos suppliers during execution, including reviewing and issuing technical documentation to the customer.
  • Provide local support for fixed I/O controls and PLC based control systems.  Duties included support of control system layout, revisions of existing designs, and support during factory testing.
  • Provides technical support to create and revise technical and marketing literature.
  • Works with internal and external supply chain resources for control design, manufacturing, and programming.
  • Evaluate and report on new technology and techniques for improving product, manufacturing technique and serviceability of product offering.
  • Maintains market related intelligence by attending trade shows or other training opportunities and interacting with customers.
  • Become a subject matter expert for Grundfos control technologies, responsible for quoting and executing complete water treatment systems, including training for internal and external customers on these technologies.

 

Your background 

We imagine that you have:   

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) with 3+ years’ experience in controls application design and manufacture.
  • Experience in control systems, control panels, VFDs or motors.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of PLC and controls technology.
  • Sufficient education and experience to learn, troubleshoot, and train others in the application and use of Grundfos products.
  • Proficiency in controls application design including PLC programming and diagnostics.
  • Ability to work with detailed specifications and industry standards.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of product and infrastructure approvals and coding (NEC, UL, NEMA etc.)
  • Ability to deliver on multiple, divergent priorities, and work independently with a high degree of accuracy to meet customer requirements and priorities in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated accountability for personal and team performance.
  • Proficiency in the use of ERP systems (e.g. SAP), Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, TEAMS and product sizing software.
  • Skilled at or has the ability to apply PC based software and main frame software – including shop installation and verification for controls applications.
  • Professional telephone skills and good written and verbal English language communication skills to receive and give information.
