Grundfos CBS. Inc. is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer, Package Systems WU-USA to join its Water Utility USA Packaged Systems team.  The Applications Engineer, Package Systems WU-USA will provide world class customer service through prompt and professional pricing and technical/commercial sales support to customers (channel partners, contractors, and end users), sister-companies, Business Development Managers and sales teams for products and their applications. Ensures the proper specification of products and issues technical documents for Municipal Package Applications consisting of booster systems, custom enclosures, and water treatment. This position reports directly to the Manager Package Systems, WU-USA and will operate daily out of the Brookshire, Texas facility.  Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.

 

What is the job about? 

 

  • Advise customers including VIP/Key Account, and sales team, and provide technical application and product training, and manage escalation calls. 
  • Collaborate with internal departments and suppliers to create price quote for non-standard products where list price is not readily available. 
  • Guide non-approved customers to the appropriate channel partner or DSM. 
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting, advanced product coordination and special-order handling. 
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to prepare moderately complex quotation packages, review detailed specifications including technical deviations lists as required, with minimal assistance, tools may include CRM and MS office software. 
  • Conduct product related technical analysis for internal and external audiences. 
  • Provides guidance and support to other applications engineers including custom pricing and spec review. 
  • Conduct hand over meetings with Project Execution to ensure all information passes efficiently. 
  • Provide technical assistance and training to the inside and outside sales force as well as customers as may be applicable to the Grundfos product range. 
  • May lead special projects as assigned. 
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policies, procedures, legislation, regulations, and direction and identify non-compliance situations for resolution.
  • Comply with all health and safety initiatives to ensure the Company remains a safe workplace. 


What do you need to apply? 

 

Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering or other technical degree required; or a combination of training, education and experience.  Additionally, have a minimum of 3-5 years’ sales/engineering experience, preferably with a pump manufacturer. 

  • Must have a technical understanding of pump and packaged skid systems.
  • Technical related-product and applications-specific knowledge (i.e. basic understanding of pumps, motors, VFDs, packaged systems, and industry standards (HI, ANSI, ISO, etc.) for pumps. 
  • Research, design and evaluate municipal and mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. 
  • Specify system components or direct selection of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Ability to work with detailed specifications and industry standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple, divergent priorities, and work independently with a high degree of accuracy to meet customer requirements and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to present a positive, competent image to customers, problem solve and apply sound judgment and discretion.
  • Demonstrated accountability for personal and team performance.
  • Superior telephone skills and strong written and verbal English language communication skills to receive and give information.
  • Strong customer service focus, sense of urgency to meet or exceed customer expectations, and achieve daily commitments. 
  • Proficiency in the use of ERP systems (recommended), Microsoft Office including MS Excel, SAP and product sizing software. 
  • Knowledge of CAD software is an asset. May be required to create P&ID’s for engineering/design team for pump package system drawings.
  • Working technical knowledge of equipment in the Water Utility and Water Treatment package systems.
