Manufacturing
APU Manager
Job Description

Are you a manufacturing leader passionate about driving safety, quality, and operational excellence while building high-performance teams? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our Autonomous Production Unit (APU) Manager - Brookshire, Texas, you will be organizing and leading all production activities within a designated Autonomous Production Unit at our Brookshire, Texas facility, driving programs that improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost reduction, and employee development across the operation. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Brookshire Plant Operations team, you'll create impact by leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives that directly support Grundfos's Ignite '27 strategy and Win in the US growth ambitions.  This position reports directly to the Regional Operations Director and will operate daily out of the Brookshire, Texas facility.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Create and sustain a safe working environment through ongoing training, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and group safety standards
  • Lead and manage production supervisors and assembly teams — coaching, empowering, and developing talent through performance evaluations, succession planning, and training matrices
  • Drive SQDICP target achievement for the APU, leading daily DAM meetings and utilizing QRQC to resolve nonconformances
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen, factory physics) to reduce costs, eliminate waste, lower WIP, and improve bottleneck work centers
  • Actively participate in the SIOP process, validate MPS, and organize staffing to meet forecasted sales while keeping costs aligned to budget
  • Contribute to plant management strategy, integrate environmental and sustainability goals into operations, and champion GPS improvement efforts

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are a results-driven manufacturing leader with deep expertise in lean production, team development, and continuous improvement — someone who leads by example, communicates effectively at all levels, and thrives in a fast-paced, safety-first production environment. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business with 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing production environment and 5+ years managing teams
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification with hands-on experience applying lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience managing ISO quality systems and implementing safety rules and policies
  • Proficiency with SAP (advanced level), ERP systems, and MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

It is a plus if you also:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Automotive industry production experience
  • Understanding of cost accounting as it applies to product costs and general accounting for income statements and budgeting
