Simulation-driven development
You will be part of Architecture & Modularization which develops Grundfos’ modules globally while making intensive usage of advanced engineering simulations to drive the design of high-performing hydraulics, motors, electronics, and mechanics. In this position, you will play a crucial role in our digitalization journey by ensuring optimal setups of advanced simulation software workflows across disciplines as well as of our sophisticated high-performance computing (HPC) hardware solutions. This is done in close collaboration with a variety of specialists within the global development and innovation organization, and from our IT and data science functions.

“Optimal setup of our simulation-driven engineering tools and efficient deployment and utilization of our 3000+ core HPC cluster is absolutely key for fast development of new innovative products. The right person in this position will be able to push the limits and help us identify and mature new potentials for optimization of workflows, data pipelines and for combining simulations with latest AI technologies to help us create the world’s most efficient pumps and motors,” explains Nicholas.

Engineering applications and workflows
This is your chance to work with some of the sharpest minds, ranging from engineers to data scientists and IT specialists. It will be your primary task to ensure that the application layer of our global HPC setup is kept up-to-date and well balanced with hardware resources, either on-premise or cloud-based. In addition, you will help our engineers across our global development sites automate and streamline engineering workflows and build and deploy web applications that allow global colleagues to tap into our advanced simulation tool portfolio.
With this diverse mix of tasks, it is essential that you master cross-functional collaboration since you will have to translate the expertise and ideas of your engineering colleagues into efficient data pipelines and workflows. This also means that you know your way around databases and how to code scripts. What will you do?

  • Being a software engineering application specialist includes that you:
  • Automate engineering simulation applications in close collaboration with simulation specialists across global development sites
  • Manage the system and engineering application layer of our High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters in close collaboration with IT department
  • Make in-house tools deployable through development of python-based apps
  • Deploy python-based engineering apps through web-based platform (Dash) so they are easily accessible to development engineers
  • Perform trouble-shooting and technical user support and training
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with hardware and software suppliers and keep updated on technology trends within HPC, simulation-driven development and AI
     

What do you need to apply?
We imagine you:

  • Hold a degree in Software Engineering, computer science, numerical optimization, engineering simulations or similar
  • Have experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems
  • Have a high proficiency with Python and other programming languages
  • Have knowledge of data bases and data pipelines
  • Speak and write English effortlessly
     

Furthermore, you preferably have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure) and IT security
  • Experience with both windows and linux platforms
  • Knowledge of engineering simulation software
  • Knowledge or interest in AI/ML techniques
