Research & Development
Lead PLM Data Architect
Job Description

Are you passionate about shaping how product data connects engineering, manufacturing, service, commercialization and sustainability? Join us as we strengthen the data foundation behind our Product Lifecycle Management landscape and create trusted, governed and reusable product information that can support digital transformation, analytics and AI.

As our new Lead PLM Data Architect, you will shape and evolve the data architecture for PLM across the full product lifecycle. You will connect business meaning and governance with logical information models, data products, Systems of Record and their implementation across our PLM and enterprise system landscape.

You will play a leading role in turning product data into a strategic business asset and ensuring that our PLM data landscape becomes more coherent, governed, interoperable and ready for future digital capabilities.

What you will be doing

In the Global PLM & Data Management team, you will provide architectural leadership for PLM-related data and information. You will work across business, data governance, PLM, IT and transformation initiatives to create a coherent connection between business needs, governed information and technical implementation.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Own and evolve the PLM data architecture, ensuring alignment between PLM strategy, enterprise data principles, business capabilities and the broader enterprise IT landscape.
  • Translate business needs into governed information structures, connecting business terminology, logical information models, data products and physical system implementation.
  • Shape PLM information models and semantics, including product structures, classifications, attributes, relationships, metadata and lifecycle information.
  • Define and architect PLM data products as reusable and trusted business assets with clear definitions, ownership, stewardship, quality expectations, lifecycle states and authoritative sources.
  • Establish clear architectural relationships between data ownership, information models and Systems of Record, supporting consistent implementation of governed product information.

What makes you a great fit

You are a systems thinker and data architecture leader who understands that successful PLM transformation depends not only on applications, but on having clear, governed and connected product information. You can move comfortably between business language, information models, data governance and technical architecture, and you are able to simplify complex data topics for stakeholders across functions.

We also imagine that you have:

  • A master’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, data management or similar, or equivalent experience
  • 7–10+ years of experience within PLM, product data management, data/information architecture, enterprise data or digital transformation
  • Strong experience with product data models, information architecture, metadata and semantic modelling
  • Proven ability to translate business concepts and requirements into logical information models and implementable data architecture
  • Experience defining or working with data products, data ownership, stewardship and data quality

It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience with PLM platforms such as 3DEXPERIENCE or similar enterprise PLM solutions
  • Knowledge of Data Mesh principles and modern enterprise data platforms
  • Experience with ontologies, semantic models, knowledge graphs or similar approaches to creating machine-understandable product information
