Research & Development
Associate Software Development Engineer
Job Description

Are you passionate about embedded software and motor control, and eager to develop the technology that powers millions of pumps worldwide? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.

As our new Associate Software Development Engineer, you will be developing, integrating and maintaining embedded motor control software used across Grundfos' entire product portfolio of frequency converter-driven pumps. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.

What you will be doing

As a key part of the Embedded SW Platform team, you'll create impact by applying your motor control expertise and embedded software skills to deliver high-quality, standards-compliant platform software that powers sustainable water solutions globally.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Develop, integrate and maintain embedded C software for AC motor control across Grundfos pump platforms with frequency converters
  • Work across the full development lifecycle — from requirements formulation through analysis, implementation, robustness verification and production deployment
  • Build and utilise simulation models to support and accelerate motor control software development
  • Transform functional requirements into control algorithms and implement them in embedded C with real-time execution constraints
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and software safety methods throughout the development process
  • Leverage GenAI tools to enhance productivity and quality in daily development work

What makes you a great fit

Above all, you are an engineer with a solid foundation in embedded C programming and motor control, who thrives in the boundary between hardware and software and enjoys working in a self-driven team of experienced specialists. We would also imagine that you have:

  • Degree in control engineering, power electronics, or related field — newly graduated or experienced
  • Professional-level C programming skills for embedded systems with real-time execution
  • Understanding of AC motor control principles or strong willingness to develop deep expertise
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written

It is a plus if you also:

  • Experience building simulation models for motor control development
  • Knowledge of power electronics topologies and software safety standards
  • Interest in utilising GenAI in daily engineering work

Why you will love working here

We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:

  • A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
  • Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering in your community.
  • Access to on-demand training and learning sessions and carefully structured programmes to pursue personal and professional development opportunities.

We are inclusive! Celebrating and valuing our differences helps us see possibilities where others can't. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from all abilities, experiences, and backgrounds.
