Sales & Customer Support
Associate Sales Engineer - Wessex Water
Job Description

Are you driven by building strong customer relationships and supporting sustainable growth in the water utility sector? Join us in shaping smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy use, and improving quality of life for communities.

As our new Associate Sales Engineer – Wessex Water, you will apply your technical and commercial expertise to maintain and expand our customer base across the Wessex Water region. You will manage the full sales cycle—from quotation to award—while ensuring the delivery of optimal pump solutions for every application. You’ll be part of an inclusive, supportive culture that values diversity, prioritizes well-being, and fosters personal and professional growth.

What you will be doing
As a key member of the Water Utility Sales team, you will strengthen long-term partnerships with major water utility customers and contribute to strategic initiatives that drive sustainable growth.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Area Sales Manager to maximize sales, execute strategic business plans, and identify competitor equipment suitable for replacement
  • Managing the full sales cycle, including pump and spare part quotations, B2B negotiations through OPEX channels, and delivering on individual sales targets
  • Conducting site visits and surveys to diagnose issues, develop solutions, and lead new product trials to secure operational acceptance
  • Maintaining and developing customer relationships by providing product expertise, application guidance, and troubleshooting support
  • Owning local CRM activities, monitoring KPIs against budget, and taking corrective actions to ensure targets are achieved
  • Tracking competitor products, pricing, and market trends to support strategic decision-making and maintain competitive positioning

What makes you a great fit
You are a technically minded sales professional with solid knowledge of pumps, rotating equipment, and water utility processes. You excel at building relationships, understand commercial drivers, and communicate confidently at all levels.

We imagine you bring:

  • Experience in the Water Utility industry in a sales or technical role, with knowledge of pumping and wastewater equipment
  • 0–3 years of sales experience in water process products, with strong B2B negotiation and communication skills
  • Recognized qualifications in Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field
  • A self-driven mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a demanding, field-based role

It is a plus if you also have:

  • Experience working with Wessex Water or similar UK water utilities
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, sales pipeline management, and competitor pump products including retrofit solutions
  • Experience with controls, automation, or electrical equipment used in the UK water industry

Why you will love working here

We care about our people. You can expect:

  • A flexible working environment with home-working options and parental support
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance, and a strong focus on well-being
  • Three additional paid days for volunteering in your community
  • Access to on-demand learning, structured development programs, and continuous training opportunities

We are inclusive and value the unique perspectives that diversity brings. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
