Associate Sales Engineer - Southwest Water
Job Description

As our new Associate Sales Engineer – Southwest Water, you will apply your technical and commercial expertise to maintain and grow our customer base across the Southwest Water region. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver the right pump solutions for critical water infrastructure. You’ll be part of an inclusive, supportive culture that values diversity, prioritizes well-being, and fosters personal and professional growth.

What you will be doing

As a key member of the Water Utility Sales team, you will strengthen long-term customer partnerships and contribute to strategic plans that ensure reliable water solutions reach communities across the Southwest.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Area Sales Manager to maximize sales and execute strategic business plans that support medium- and long-term growth
  • Negotiating B2B orders directly with Water Companies’ operations and maintenance teams (OPEX), identifying competitor equipment suitable for replacement
  • Conducting site visits to diagnose issues, performing surveys with Energy teams, and collaborating with customers to develop tailored pump solutions
  • Driving new product development by implementing trials and securing operational-level acceptance within customer organizations
  • Managing all local CRM activities, maintaining pricing support mechanisms, and monitoring product sales and KPIs to ensure budget delivery
  • Providing product knowledge, application guidance, and troubleshooting support while maintaining strong relationships across all stakeholder levels

What makes you a great fit

You are a technically minded sales professional with strong knowledge of water utility operations and the ability to translate engineering insights into commercial outcomes. You build trust easily, communicate confidently, and thrive in a dynamic, customer-facing environment.

We imagine you bring:

  • Experience in the Water Utility industry in a sales or technical role, with 0–3 years of sales experience in water process products
  • Technical knowledge of pumping, wastewater, and associated equipment used in the water industry
  • Recognized qualifications in Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset with excellent communication and negotiation skills

It is a plus if you also have:

  • Experience with CRM systems and structured opportunity management
  • Knowledge of aftermarket sales, spare parts, service offerings, and competitor pump retrofit solutions
  • Familiarity with motor basics, pump system design, and controls/automation equipment used in the UK water industry

Why you will love working here

We care about our people. You can expect:

  • A flexible working environment with home-working options and parental support
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance, and a strong focus on well-being
  • Three additional paid days for volunteering in your community
  • Access to on-demand learning, structured development programs, and continuous training opportunities

We are inclusive and value the unique perspectives that diversity brings. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
