As our new Assembler I-2nd shift (Horizontal), you will be assembling, mounting, and testing horizontal pumps while serving as a hands-on team lead who drives safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the production floor. What you will be doing
As a key part of the Horizontal Production - PPU Indianapolis team, you'll create impact by example on the shop floor to ensure pumps and pumping systems are built safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards..
Your main responsibilities include:
- Assemble, disassemble, align, adjust, and repair horizontal and standard vertical pumps, mounting components to base plates using mechanical fasteners and welding
- Set up and perform hydraulic pressure tests, performance tests, and run tests—recording all results accurately in SAP and manual systems
- Perform operations such as drilling, tapping, fitting, filing, reaming, welding, and acetylene cutting as required for assembly and leak repair
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying productivity gains, maintaining 5S standards, and participating in Kaizen events
What makes you a great fit
Above all, you are a mechanically skilled assembler, welding capability, and the ability to read engineering drawings—someone who thrives in a hands-on production environment.
We would also imagine that you have:
High school diploma or GED/HSE *required
Additional vocational training in electrical (to 480-3phase), welding, precision measuring instruments, or blueprint reading
Current welding certification or ability to obtain certification
Mechanical aptitude with ability to read and apply mathematics from engineering drawings and schematics
Proficiency with manual, power-driven, and pneumatic hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting equipment
It is a plus if you also:
- Experience with horizontal and/or vertical pump assembly
- Forklift license and experience with crane lift rigging
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts, SAP, and MS Office applications

The salary range for this position is $45,300-$59,990 (paid hourly, non-exempt, plus shift differential). Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate’s profile. The range listed is just one component of Peerless Grundfos’s total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Peerless Grundfos salary rates are benchmarked and reflect the target for new hire salaries for the position in Indianapolis, Indiana.
