What is the job about?
As our new CSSC Proposal Engineer - Controls, you will be driving controls application design, PLC development, and technical coordination for pumping system solutions — from proposal through execution — while building expertise across the organization in Grundfos and PLC-based control technologies. In Addition, you'll create impact by Advancing Grundfos control technologies by delivering accurate, innovative control solutions for water treatment and boosting systems while elevating the technical competence of our sales and support teams across the USA and Canada.
This position reports to our CSSC Manager and operates in a hybrid model from our Apodaca, Nuevo Leon or Mexico City facility.
Please note that relocation is not supported for this role. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in Mexico without sponsorship.
Your main responsibilities:
- Design and program PLC-based control systems for boosting, submersible, and custom water treatment projects, including system performance analysis, VFD setup, and communication protocols
- Perform specification review and controls application support for proposals, including vendor quotations and technical documentation for customers
- Provide local support for fixed I/O and PLC-based control systems, including layout, design revisions, and factory testing
- Collaborate with internal and external supply chain resources on control design, manufacturing, and programming
- Deliver training sessions for internal and external customers on Grundfos control technologies and become a subject matter expert in these systems
- Evaluate emerging technologies and techniques to improve product offerings, manufacturing processes, and serviceability
Your background
We imagine that you have:
Above all, you are a controls-savvy engineer with strong PLC programming skills, a knack for translating complex specifications into reliable control solutions, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders. We would also imagine that you have:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical preferred) with 2+ years of experience in controls application design and manufacturing
- Advanced technical knowledge of PLC programming, diagnostics, and controls technology
- Sound knowledge of product and infrastructure approvals and codes (NEC, UL, NEMA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) and ERP systems (SAP preferred)
It is a plus if you also:
- Experience in controls for pumping systems with a pump manufacturer
- Familiarity with VFD configuration, communication protocols, and product sizing software
- Experience applying PC-based and mainframe software for shop installation and verification of controls applications
