What is the Job all about?

 

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team in Regency Park, South Australia. The main purpose of this role is to contribute to achieving the company’s goals through the design of pumping systems, design of drawings, testing systems and technical drawings for standard and variant pumps and pumping systems.  To co-ordinate and schedule mechanical design activities

 

This role will be directly reporting to the Customer Service Unit (CSU) Manager and will be based in Regency Park, South Australia.

 

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and quote mechanical systems based on requirements from the Sales team with accuracy and timeliness
  • Convert requirements into shop-floor documentation packages including complete mechanical drawings, new part numbers and BOM’s which are delivered on time and according to the Grundfos Engineering Standards and Processes and Customer Specifications
  • Ensure new mechanical parts are fully defined, detailed and dimensioned
  • Provide engineering support for technical queries from production and sales
  • Assist with the review of customer specifications with a view to defining pre-engineering activities to allow for more simple process of customer variants.
  • Where required, ensure quality control of tested product through sign-off of final performance data
  • Assist with project documentation including ITP’s, Project Schedules and MDR’s
  • Involvement in the introduction of new products via engineering design and documentation
  • Develop design processes that are streamlined and efficient, accurate and trace-able.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through a focus on defect elimination
  • Embrace the zero-defect philosophy through all stages of engineering by implementing processes and ensuring individual accountability for quality of workmanship.
  • Train new employees on Grundfos Engineering Standards and Processes
  • Build on your knowledge of mechanical systems to ensure that client requirements are met.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested commensurate with the position.

 

 Your Background:

  • Degree in Engineering or significant practical experience (Engineering Certificate)
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience (technical)
  • Working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, etc. May be required to create P&ID’s, plant layouts, jigs & fixtures, schematics, General arrangement & terminations drawings.
  • Ability to work with detailed specifications and industry standards.
  • Specify system components or direct selection of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
  • Proficiency in the use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office including MS Excel, SAP and product sizing software.

  • Superior telephone skills and strong written and verbal English language communication skills to receive and give information.
  • Strong customer service focus, sense of urgency to meet or exceed customer expectations, and achieve daily commitments.
